Security critical functions of any embedded platform must run in
a secure environment. To establish a secure environment, the platform
must provide to the security functions a mechanism to control and
restrict all accesses to physical peripherals and memories involved
in their process. And threats are numerous: via DMA, a second processor
on the BUS, or via code injection into execution memory after the
boot process, security functions can be bypassed and platform integrity
could be jeopardized at run time.
